About This Calculator
What This Tool Does
The OSRS Alchemy Profit Calculator helps you find the most profitable items for High and Low Alchemy in Old School RuneScape. It automatically calculates profit margins by comparing real-time Grand Exchange prices against each item's alchemy value.
Unlike static guides that become outdated, our calculator fetches live price data every time you visit or refresh. This means you're always seeing current market conditions and can make informed decisions about which items to alch.
Key Features
- Real-time prices: Data pulled directly from the OSRS Wiki prices API
- Custom bankroll: Enter your available gold to see realistic quantities
- Time-based calculations: Set your session length to account for buy limits
- Sortable columns: Sort by profit, margin, or potential earnings
- Both High and Low Alch: Separate tables for each spell type
How to Use the Calculator
Step 1: Set Your Bankroll
Enter how much gold you have available in the "Bankroll" field. You can use shortcuts like:
100k= 100,000 gp5m= 5,000,000 gp1b= 1,000,000,000 gp
This assumes you already have nature runes. The calculator will show how many of each item you can afford.
Step 2: Set Your Session Time
Enter how long you plan to alch in the "Time" field (in minutes). This affects the Quantity column, which accounts for Grand Exchange buy limits. Items have a 4-hour purchase limit, so longer sessions may require rotating between multiple items.
Step 3: Read the Tables
The tables show all alchable items sorted by a composite score. Click column headers to sort differently.
Understanding the Columns
Item
The item name with an icon. Click anywhere on the row to open the item's page on the OSRS Wiki prices site for detailed price history.
GE Price
Shows two values: the instant buy price (what you'll pay to buy immediately) and the instant sell price in parentheses. The profit calculation uses the buy price since that's what you'll spend.
Profit
The gold profit per alch, calculated as: Alch Value - GE Buy Price - Nature Rune Cost. Green values are profitable; red values mean you'd lose money.
Margin
The percentage return on investment (ROI). Higher margins are better for small bankrolls. For example, 20% margin on a 500gp item gives you 100gp profit, while 5% margin on a 10,000gp item gives 500gp profit.
Quantity
Shows how many you can buy based on your bankroll AND the GE buy limit for your session time. Format: affordable/limit. The smaller number determines how many you can actually alch.
Potential Profit
Your total possible profit if you alch the maximum quantity shown. This factors in both your bankroll and buy limits for your time frame.
Data Sources & Accuracy
This calculator uses the OSRS Wiki Real-time Prices API, the same data source used by the official Wiki and many popular third-party tools.
How Prices Are Calculated
- Instant buy price: The highest recent price someone paid to buy instantly
- Instant sell price: The lowest recent price someone sold for instantly
- Nature rune cost: We use the current GE price for nature runes in all calculations
Limitations
- Prices can change between when you check and when you buy
- Very low-volume items may have stale prices
- Instant buy prices assume you're buying at market rate, not placing offers
- Some items may not be available at shown prices due to market conditions
